Description: I really hate to write reviews like this, but if something is wrong, you just have to say it. We were actually excited to visit this place as we heard some good things about it and a person we know works there. Unfortunately, Things went downhill as soon as we pulled up.
It had rained that morning and the parking lot had a lot of holes full of water. To make it worse, it was not a paved parking lot so it was sandy/muddy ground. Despite that, it was very busy so our hopes of a good meal and good time were elevated.
The place was busy so we couldn't sit at the bar but did find a 2 top table along the wall that had just been vacated. The menu was on the table so we scanned it and was ready. About 10 minutes later our waitress came and took a drink order. I ordered an Ultra and Sheila Bacardi & Water. We received those about 10 minutes later as the Bartender was also the cook it seemed so things took a while. We then ordered our food. I ordered a Debris PoBoy and Sheila ordered Tuna Dip.
As we waited the 45 minutes to get our food, we watched several groups of people come and go. A group of 8 stood by the door for about 10 minutes and finally left. Another group of 6 came in and were sat at a table that was not cleared fully yet, but they cleared it as they sat. Another group of 4 ladies came in and after waiting a while cleared their own table and sat down. Several more smaller groups came and went without getting seated. The staff (2 people, waitress/bartender and bartender/cook) did acknowledge them, but just never got back to them. So they all left as well.
Finally as we were getting our food, 45 minutes after we ordered, the table of six who had at least gotten teas and waters, left. The Debris PoBoy was one of the worst I have experienced. It was very dry and the meat was cold. The bread was the best part of it, but it could not save the rest. I could smell Sheila's Tuna Dip from my side of the table and I don't need to say that she only took a few bites.
I can keep adding on bad things, but I've said enough. On a funny note, the table of 4 ladies sat talking with menus in their hands for at least 30 minutes. When the waitress finally came up to get their drink order, they started asking each other what the other one was having and it took them several minutes to just decide on their drinks. I have to give the waitress credit, she did not pull out a weapon and put them out of their misery.
Bottom Line: The Flying Harpoon was a huge disappointment to us. We really like small hole in the wall kind of places, but the food was really bad and they were grossly understaffed. We do NOT recommend them.
