Description:Small café located on the AL/FL line in Lillian, AL.  The town sits on the west side of Wolf Bay and is a small quiet town.

The restaurant is decorated with a lot of antique and nostalgic memorabilia.  We found it clean and pleasant.  When we pulled up outside we were about 10 minutes after their opening time and nothing was out or turned on and no open side.  Despite my wife’s prodding to leave, I got out of the Jeep and went to pull on the door.  To my surprise, it was unlocked so I roused her highness from the Jeep.  We were immediately met and seated.  The dining area is small but spaced far enough apart that you are comfortable.

A waitress was training a new one so we were getting double attention.  Sheila ordered the Daybreak Special (Eggs, bacon or sausage, grits or hash-browns or home fries, toast or biscuit) $12

I ordered a 1/2 order of biscuits and gravy and a side of grits.

Sheila orders her eggs over hard which for some reason is always a challenge for cooks.  They usually cook them on high to heat and burn/scorch them.  I’m happy to say, as you can see by the pictures, they were cooked perfectly.  The bacon, toast and hash-browns were also cooked as expected.

My 1/2 order if Biscuits and Gravy ($9) was a large in-house made biscuit loaded with in-house made sausage gravy.  Both were excellent. Other than being a hard judge on biscuits and gravy, I’m equally as picky on Grits.  Again, I’m happy to say that the restaurant did not skimp on cheap grits.  They were salted and cooked perfectly.

They do have a weird policy.  They charge $6 extra if you want to share a plate.  I would not expect this to go over well with older clients that typically can not eat a full serving and share.

They do offer to make breakfast plates a small but I’m not sure what that means.

Bottom Line: Really good food prepared well.  A bit pricey for a little café in a small town.  I recommend eating here, just plan on a $35 breakfast for 2 people.
