Description: We were staying at an RV park in Theodore and ventured out to try and find a good breakfast spot. Googling the area we found there were not very many choices within a few miles of where we were staying except one called Time to Eat so we decided to give them a try.
When we first pulled up the restaurant was not very impressive. It was located in the corner of an older strip mall with several shopping bags with garbage in the parking lot and what appeared to be a few homeless people. We decided to give it a try anyway.
When you walk into the building it was much larger than expected. The décor was older but a bit unique with clocks everywhere. Thus Time to Eat. We were promptly greeted and asked if we wanted smoking or nonsmoking. Luckily the two sections are divided by an entryway and 2 walls so we never smelled any smoke.
They menu was expansive with a lot of my favorite Home Style cooking items. But we were here for breakfast and so we settled for something traditional. Sheila had eggs over hard, bacon, potatoes and toast. I always try a new places biscuits and sausage gravy and grits. (No one has been better than mine yet)
Most of the places we go to when Sheila orders eggs over hard they come out scorched which she then will not eat. These came out cooked almost perfect with just a small amount of scorching. She really liked their potatoes with perfect seasonings, onions and peppers. The bacon was medium cut and had a light smokey flavor.
My Biscuits and Gravy was some of the better I have had. You can tell by the color what its going to taste like before you get a bite. If it's flour white, it's just flour gravy that someone dumped some sausage in. If it's a little gray, the sausage was put in the gravy as it was made and some of the grease was left. Their grits were what I call Quaker Oats style grits. Cooked perfectly with some salt added while cooking. Add butter and mmmmmm.
Bottom Line: This is a great diner with good service, food and reasonable pricing. Don't let the parking lot or external appearance deter you. We strongly recommend this place.
